Day 13 - Leigh Creek, SA to Arkaroola, SA

Today was a bit of a quieter day. We packed up and went to a local cafe in Leigh Creek for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs, finally a cooked breakfast that was tasty!
Afterwards we started heading to Arkaroola. The scenery has changed a lot. It is beautiful. Rocky mountains and gullies and twisty roads (I still have to manage to get a good scenery shot, the few I have taken doesn't show it off that well.

It's funny how it is just flat desert not that far away but here it is completely different. It is still a bit dry and arid but that is all that resembles the desert.

We stopped at a local aboriginal community called Iga Warta. It was a lovely little place and informative. We met two local aboriginal men who run the place. They were friendly and quite interesting (I didn't get a photo of them though!)

They had a lot of dreamtime stories that describe things about the area around to read.

We continued on and stopped for a cup of tea in a creek bed. It was a pretty cool spot. I climbed the rocky cliff side of the dry creek and took some photos of the beautiful old trees along the creek. They were huge with massive trunks. I love the trees in this area.

We finally arrived at Arkaroola and set up camp. We headed to the bar at the Arkaroola reception and had a drink.

And then returned to camp for the night. Tomorrow we are going to go on the Echo Camp Backtrack which should hopefully be interesting!

Next stop Blinman, SA!
