Day 2 Mildura to Broken Hill (02/07/12)

We left the hotel at Mildura around 9. Stopping to have a healthy breakfast of McDonalds!
Before leaving Mildura, we had to make a detour to the Angus Park Dried Fruit gift store, where they had my absolute favorite fruit....

Dried bananas! Woo! I can never buy them anywhere, only stupid banana chips :-P

Mildura have a lot of fruit stalls on the side of the road, we stocked up on some mandarines before leaving.

We continued on, crossing the Mighty Murray into NSW and then stopping to have a quick peek at the Darling River in Wentworth.

The landscape is changing yet again. It's flatter and drier, although there is a lot of vegetation instead of desert! Mostly shrubs (there has been a lot of rain so it's rare to see so much vegetation around. It will be interesting to see what the desert is like the further we go). We saw emus, kangaroos and even packs of wild goats.

There are heaps of road trains which are pretty scary to pass on the roads! We stopped at a dry river bed and had a bit of a play around.

The road trains are huge in real life!

We finally arrived at Broken Hill around 2.

We continued on to have a look at Silverton, where Mad Max was filmed. It is a pretty empty little town apart from the pub, mad max museum and a couple of little galleries. We had a drink in the Silverton pub and posed for some photos with the Mad Max memorabilia.

We saw a cool car made of bottle caps at a local art gallery.

On the way back to Broken Hill we were treated to a lovely sunset.

Next stop White Cliffs (and hopefully I will learn to write more interesting blog posts lol!)
