We saw a wild camel! And also the poisonous desert melon things (have no idea what they are called!) started to make an appearance.
Before leaving Broken Hill we decided to check out the Living Desert and Sculpture Park. We were running out of time to get to White Cliffs so we on,y had a quick look at the sculptures, there were some walks that would have been interesting to do if we had the time.
After the sculpture park, we had a quick look at a local artist gallery, Howard Steer. He was quite an interesting character. We bought a couple of prints that he signed.
Finally we started heading to White Cliffs! We went along the back roads to White Cliffs, which saw the start of dirt roads we will be traveling along for awhile!
We saw tons of wild life along the way! We stopped for a tea break and a bun while James fixed his headlight which had popped out from the corrugations from the road. While there we had some visitors which weren't quite game enough to come too close, yay for a zoom lens! :-)
We had hoards of emus running in front of the cars too!
We finally arrived in White Cliffs around 5. The road was extremely bumpy and had a lot of grooves that pulled the car across the road. It was quite fun though! It rattled James light loose and the hubcaps of Mum and Dad's car. So we needed a quick pit stop to fix that too!
Before we went to our motel, we went to the local White Cliffs pub to have a drink and a bit of a look around.
We stayed in the underground motel in White Cliffs, it was quite cool. It felt a bit like we were staying in a cave.
We had a 3 course dinner there. When we booked it they didn't know what they were serving yet because they hadn't bought anything for it yet. So it was like a 3 course dinner surprise! It was only usual food though, soup, roast and dessert, but it was tasty!
Next stop Tibooburra!
